onsemi today announced that it has completed the acquisition of SWIR Vision Systems® as part of its ongoing commitment to delivering powerful, cutting-edge intelligent image perception technology.

SWIR Vision Systems is a leading provider of colloidal quantum dots (CQD®) short-wave infrared (SWIR) technology, which extends the spectral range of detectable light to see through objects and capture images that were previously impossible to capture.

With this acquisition, ON will combine silicon-based CMOS sensors and manufacturing expertise with CQD technology to deliver highly integrated SWIR sensors at lower cost and higher production volumes. This will lead to more compact, cost-effective imaging systems with a wider spectrum that can be used in a wide range of commercial and industrial applications.

SWIR Vision Systems is now a wholly owned subsidiary of ON, and its technology team will be integrated into ON's Intelligent Perception business group. The team will continue to operate in North Carolina. The acquisition is not expected to have a material impact on ON's near-to-medium-term financial outlook, the company said.
